The International Women’s Cup (IWC) is a rapidly expanding event, underscoring the increasing prominence of women’s Socca, largely due to the Hungarian Socca Federation’s dedicated efforts. The 2025 edition marks the second time the tournament will be held alongside the national final in Hungary.

The inaugural IWC, held on July 7-8, 2024, in Hajdúszoboszló, Hungary, was a historic moment as the first International Women’s Cup hosted by the Hungarian Socca Federation. That foundational tournament featured Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, and Hungary, with Hungary emerging as the champions. The 2025 tournament will see the return of Hungary and Greece, alongside new participants Belgium and Oman, signaling growing international interest and promising even more competitive matches.

The Hungarian Socca Federation is deeply committed to the global development of women’s Socca, having significantly invested in its launch. A core goal is for every participating nation to field both men’s and women’s national teams. The Federation emphasizes that the women’s and youth divisions are equally as important as the men’s team, exemplified by Hungary’s existing U20 national team.

The tournament’s location, Hajdúszoboszló, is an ideal destination for this type of international sports events. It offers both professional facilities and a welcoming atmosphere for athletes and visitors alike. The town is renowned for its thermal spas and wellness centers, providing excellent relaxation and recovery options for athletes and fans. Additionally, Hajdúszoboszló boasts a diverse range of local and international restaurants, catering to all tastes and preferences.

The future of women’s Socca is incredibly bright, and the International Women’s Cup stands at the forefront of this exciting expansion. With the Hungarian Socca Federation’s unwavering dedication to growing the women’s and youth divisions on an international level, we anticipate a future where even more countries participate and the sport continues to flourish globally. We invite everyone to stay tuned for future announcements and join us in celebrating the incredible talent and spirit of the International Women’s Cup!
