The World Cup goes to the Middle East!

This week saw the long awaited announcement of the location for the biggest event in the small sided football calendar, the 2024 Socca World Cup.

After the mammouth success of the last Socca World Cup, which saw hundreds of thousands of fans flock to Essen in Germany, excitement had been at fever pitch amongst member countries and fans to see where the next edition of Socca’s flagship competition would go.

At a press conference in Muscat, Oman, Socca CEO Thanos Papadopolus, Development Director Julia Colter and Head of Socca Middle East Waleed Al Obaidani made the announcement that Oman will host the next Socca World Cup, thus becoming the first non-European country to host the event.

The tournament will take place between 29th November and 7th December 2024, with further details regarding the location to be released over the coming weeks.

Speaking at the event, Socca CEO Thanos Papadopolus said, “It is a fantastic achievement by Waleed and all involved in the bid to bring this tournament to Oman! I speak for the whole Socca family when I say we are very excited to be travelling to a new continent and letting new fans experience the joys of Socca!”
