At the end of it all then, we know Greece play Russia and Moldova play Poland.
We know that means there’ll be a new name on the cup.
But that doesn’t tell anywhere near the story of the drama of what they will surely dub “Super Saturday” when the dust settles on the World Cup 2019 in Rethmyno.
Poland were the top scorers. Beating Mexico 7-3, following up their 3-0 cruise against Bulgaria earlier in the day.
It was a day of incredible drama right from the off, Hungary beating Scotland 5-3 in a classic, saw them have to play Russia for a place in the semi-finals. Russia, who had earlier played the USA and beat them 2-0, then booked their place in the last four by seeing off the challenge of Hungary 4-3.
On the other side of the draw, the match of the tournament was witnessed by the thrilled crowd as a late winner saw the hosts beat England 4-3.
That just leaves Moldova. Quietly and calmly they have gone about their business under the radar, but a 2-1 win over Kazakhstan, set up a last eight clash with France – which they won 1-0.
All of that means there are just four matches left until the sun sets on the 2019 world cup. Follow them all, here.
