World Cup Draw: All The Latest

The draw for the 2023 International Socca Federation World Cup has been made, with 44 teams set to compete in the tournament from June 2-11 in Essen, Germany.

The defending champions, Brazil, have been drawn in Group A alongside Hungary, Turkey, and Ivory Coast. Hosts Germany will face Chile, Oman, and Cyprus in Group B.

The tournament will also feature new teams including, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Ivory Coast, Libya, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

The inclusion of these new countries shows the growing reach of the competition. “We are delighted to welcome six new teams to the World Cup,” said tournament organizer Tom Nash. “This is a great opportunity for these countries to showcase their talent on the world stage.”

The festival of football will take place in Kennedyplatz, the main square in the city.

“We are expecting a record number of fans to attend the International Socca Federation World Cup,” said Nash. “We have a great line-up of teams, and we are confident that the tournament will be a huge success.”

The International Socca Federation World Cup is the biggest and most prestigious 6-a-side tournament in the world. After resuming after the pandemic last year with Hungary in 2022, attention is now fully fixed on Germany in 2023. Tom added that hopes were high: “The 2023 Cup is sure to be a thrilling tournament, and everyone is in for a treat”.
