Inaugural Socca World Cup Kicks Off in Lisbon

The International Socca Federations (ISF) launches the first small-sided football world cup for 6-a-side football. The event will take place from Sunday 23rd September until Saturday 29th September in the Praça do Comércio, Lisbon. Over the course of the week, 64 matches will take place in the purpose-built stadium in the historical position in the centre of Lisbon.

Thirty-two countries from around the world have entered teams for this event, including the nations of the United Kingdom, Pakistan, United States of America and Portugal. This multi-million dollar event in Portugal is the greatest ever celebration of small-sided football to ever take place. ISF Ambassador Mark Clattenburg officiated the opening match between Portugal and Greece.

Mark Clattenburg said: “The reception in Lisbon is fantastic.The crowd are enjoying it, the venue is brilliant along with the organisation. As the week goes on, it’s going to get interesting.

World Group Trunkwala are an amazing organisation, I’ve only been lucky enough to meet them recently. What they have done and what they bring to ISF and this tournament is massive.

The future is bright and the Trunkwala family want to push this forward and make it better. I’m sure year on year this will get better and I am delighted to be an ambassador.”

Pakistan’s Trunkwala’s World Group and British organisation Leisure Leagues have work tirelessly to develop this extraordinary event and to create a legacy for which this event can continue to grow.
