International regulators have endorsed the International Socca Federation (ISF) as the only recognised governing body for small-sided football worldwide.
The European Union Trademark Authority has officially approved the use of the term ‘Socca’ for all variations of small-sided football, marking a significant milestone for the sport.
A spokesperson for the International Socca Federation stated, “Previously, there were various smaller organizations and competitions using different terms to describe small-sided football. Our goal has been to establish a single, comprehensive phrase that encompasses all forms of 5, 6, 7, and 8-a-side football worldwide.”
“This decision means that all competitions, whether they identify as 6v6 or mini football (which specifically refers to small-sided matches for children), can now fall under the unified umbrella of Socca. This ruling confirms our position as the sole and official governing body for all variations of small-sided football globally.”
