WINNER TAKES ALL EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK

With the group stages in their penultimate day and with things really hotting up, there is all to play for on a Thursday that might just go down in history.

Looking at the groups, it is staggering just how much is to be sorted still, and that really is a testament to the incredible quality we have throughout the world of 6 a side football.

There is only one group – Group  F – where two teams are through, as Moldova and Russia are in the knockouts. Now, obviously, as they say in boxing, “somebody’s 0 has got to go” and Moldova lost this morning, paving the way for Russia to win the group if they overcome a dangerous Peru team tomorrow at 4pm Greek time.

Elsewhere, it’s all to play for and all eyes will be on Greece’s game at 7pm tonight, when the hosts take on Latvia in what is shaping up to a “winner takes all” clash.

Astonishing scenes have followed Greece wherever they have played – thousands were locked out last night as they were pegged back by Egypt, watching it on big screens across the beachside restaurants and bars and they will be roared on by the incredible support tonight.

Elsewhere it is just as tight, but Scotland are through in Group B, with France and China sweating on who will join them, even after France’s goal of the tournament effort last night as they beat Ireland 7-0.

Wales, who can still qualify despite losing to Lithuania yesterday – but striker Tyrell Webbe had the consolation of notching an absolute beauty of a goal.
